Had to stop here when a blizzard dumped a bunch of snow on us on our way up from Madison. Grateful that it was open late and we could get a room.
Very nice and clean place to stay if you are looking for a simple no bells and whistles out of the way kind of place. Just a short distance away from town, nestled in the corner of trees, the Pines isn't fancy, you won't find little bars of soap, or shampoo and conditioner, you won't find vending machines, continental breakfast, or fancy spa rooms, but what you will find is wonderfully nice people who will go out of thier way to help if you ask, other wise will provide you with a quiet, peaceful place, at a fairly reasonable rate. The beds are clean and freshly made everyday, towels for the shower are plentiful and replaced daily as well. Television is provided with a good choice of channels and yes there is Wi-Fi, but why would you stay inside or on the internet, when there is a nice wooded path to walk, horseshoes to pitch, playground for the kids, an apple orchard just across the highway that offers a variety of apples and honey in season, and Crivitz, with all it offers, is just a very short ride into town. I would recommend The Pines to anyone wanting to get away from the busy and crowded places offered by those huge franchise places and want to walk amongst nature and trees, hear the birds, see the stars a place where the porch lights turn off at 11pm so light won't shine in your window, and you can wake to birds singing, good conversation with your neighbors while sitting on the chairs right outside your door. And if your lucky, you will see a squirrel, or deer, or the resident dog who will stop to say hello and then be on his way. Good people, quiet and restful atmosphere, and reasonably priced, a good place to go when you need to unwind from the world just a bit.
